The ancient city with number of temples, serves as a sacred Hindu pilgrimage site in TamilNadu. The city is also famous for its silk sarees, having a row of Silk merchants flanking the sides of Raja Veethi. The city of Kanchipuram has many temples.

Kailasanatha Temple

With over 58 shrines made in niches of the compound wall, the temple stands out as an epitome of construction with sandstone. Pillars of the mandapa have statues of lions standing on their hind legs, symbolizing people not to harm the temple.
